Positives dr. Susanne Friese said: "Very intuitive, some nice improvements since version 8. For instance, the way you code your data is implemented in the most intuitive way as compared to other QDAS packages. The Quotation Reader is also a nice new addition, allowing you do not only read the coded data but also to modify the coding, adding new codes or remove existing ones Version 9 has a complete new auto coding function, allowing you to easily create AND and OR searches. It also offers a range of synonyms to chose from. If you want more, you can use the expert search with regular expressions. A very nice add-on is that you can test your regex before actually starting the search. In addition, you have two new auto code features Entity Recognition (NER) and sentiment analysis. Another nice new addition are the Sankey diagrams in the Code Co-occurrence and Code-Document Table. The network function - as previously - always has been superior to comparable features like maps and diagrams in comparable programs. "
Negatives dr. Susanne Friese said: "The software offers more than being a coding tool - and even just coding is difficult to achieve by just using Excel or Word. So the benefits are many. It allows you to analyse data in a way otherwise not possible. You gain more and better insights. For a researcher it is useful already during the stage of the literature review. For students it can be used also for small research projects as part of their studies, later for their bachelor or Master thesis. Companies who may need a quicker turn around from data collection to results, benefit from the auto coding tools and the slick analysis tools that produce quick and nice looking results."
Additional Information Christopher said: "QDA Miner Lite enables users to analyze textual data such as interview and news transcripts or even open-ended responses, not only that but this qualitative data analysis software also helps users to analyze still images. Even if it is a free version of a qualitative data analysis software, it is very easy-to-use. QDA Miner Lite gives users the ability to add comments (or memos) to coded segments, cases or the whole project which is very useful and helpful in providing notes for end-users. QDA Miner Lite also offers a Fast Boolean text search tool for retrieving and coding text segments so no more scrolling up or down for users. QDA Miner Lite also provides users’ code frequency analysis with beautiful bar chart, pie chart and tag clouds for a nicer categorization and visualization in a glance. QDA Miner Lite not only provides to users an Interface and help file in English but also provides users with a French and a Spanish version. "
Brodie said: " NVivo is useful when working with qualitative data to evaluate social policy, reviewing patient feedback, researching youth culture, or undertaking postgraduate research. Users can quickly find valuable answers from data collected from different sources. NVivo enables users to easily import articles and notes from OneNote Online and other reference management software. Users can share their research by printing visualizations, text sources and node reference view. Users can also export data in Word or Excel format. With NVivo, users can import survey data directly from Survey Monkey and Qualtrics. NVivo enable users to access interface in virtually any language including English, Chinese, German, French, Japanese, Spanish and Portuguese. "
dr. Susanne Friese said: "If you are looking for a software for qualitative data analysis (or for the analysis of qualitative data), I highly recommend the use of ATLAS.ti. Whether you are using an inductive or deductive approach, or both, you will find the right tools that support you. If you are interested in mixed-methods analysis, you will also find a range of tools to support your analysis."
